Westlake Medical Center, in collaboration with the Philippine Medical Association, the Philippine Society of Medical Oncology, and the San Pedro City Medical Society, proudly held the community event “Dibdibang Usapan, Para sa Malusog na Hinaharap” on December 2, 2024, at Hardin ni Lolo at Lola, Santiago St., Chrysanthemum Village, San Pedro City, Laguna. The event aimed to promote breast cancer awareness and provide valuable information and care to the community.

Dr. Ana Karina De Lara, an esteemed specialist in Internal Medicine-Oncology, lead the event with an insightful discussion on breast cancer awareness, prevention, and early detection. Her expertise shed light on this important health issue, empowering the attendees with knowledge and encouragement.

Successful Prostate Cancer Awareness Forum at Westlake Medical Center

On September 26, 2024, Westlake Medical Center hosted a well-attended free lay forum titled “Bro, Tayo Naman!” focusing on prostate cancer awareness. Urologist Dr. Alfonso Florentino led the discussion, shedding light on the importance of early detection, regular screenings, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle to prevent and manage prostate cancer.

The event, held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the WMC Lobby, attracted many participants eager to learn more about prostate health. Dr. Florentino provided an engaging and informative talk, answering questions from the audience and encouraging open dialogue about this often-overlooked health issue among men.

The event aimed to raise awareness and educate the community about tuberculosis, a pressing health concern in the Philippines.

The forum featured insightful talks from esteemed professionals in the field. Mr. Joseph Raymond Peloton, RN, Health Education and Promotions Officer from the San Pedro City Health Office, opened the discussion by highlighting the importance of early detection and community education in combating tuberculosis. Dr. Maria Luisa Salting, MD, an Internal Medicine specialist with a focus on Pulmonology, provided an in-depth overview of the medical aspects of tuberculosis, including symptoms, treatment options, and preventive measures. Lastly, Mr. Rodel Marasigan, TB Coordinator at the San Pedro City Health Office, shared valuable information on local initiatives and support systems available for TB patients.
The event was well-attended, with participants expressing their appreciation for the knowledge and insights gained. The forum also provided a platform for attendees to ask questions and interact with the speakers, further enriching their understanding of tuberculosis.
